hi i'm currently 17/female and in australia,
there's this friend [male] that i have been introduced to over a yr now. We have grown exceptionally close though we do have our occasionally childish fights. His 18th birthday just past however he didn't chuck a huge party and got drunk etc. but instead invited me and another girl to a fancy restaurant for dinner. It felt stupid coz it was like a 3some date or something. it feels like he cant choose between us. the other girl has known him over 3 yrs now and they are also very very close friends. I am on good terms with this girl however i am tired of this relationship. We cant keep going on like this forever. He has to choose one.. I am wondering if you could show me a way out of this whole disaster, should i continue to hope that he picks me [which could take quite some time] or should i just let it go and simply be close friends and move on, coz surely university will have plenty of other nice guys right?

As the old saying goes, "If you love someone, you have to let them go." It sucks, I know. I've been in your exact shoes for quite sometime now, the only difference was that there were two other girls. I loved the man more than anything else I could ever comprehend, but he decided that he would choose someone else to be his girlfiend, then me. However, he is the closest friend I have. Nothing has changed between us, other than the fact that I don't love him anymore, due to the fact that someone else found me.
So, I guess what I'm saying is wait for him. If he likes you, he'll eventually tell you. At the same time...if someone else comes along, don't pass it up, you'll probably regret it. Good luck and don't let him break your heart.
