Ok, a long time ago I vagly remember someone telling me that when you get your period, its not actually real blood. But I only heard that once, everyone else like my health teacher just said blood and stuff. So is it actually blood or something else?

"Menstrual fluid is actually made up of several components other than blood including endometrial cells, cervical mucus and vaginal secretions (5). The amount of menstrual fluid lost also differs between individuals but generally, a woman loses between 50-100ml of fluid."
In case you're curious, a teaspoon is 5 ml and one ounce is 30 ml.
