knitting a hat

Hey I was wondering if anyone could find/knew any EASY'ish patterns or how-to websites, on how to knit a hat w/earflaps. Like these, (but these instructions are kinda confusing im looking for something easier, maybe more basic?)

Oi, it's a tough project and I'm a beginner-ish knitter myself. You might want to attempt something else, but if not, knitty.com has some good patterns. I found an earflap hat here:

but it doesn't look very easy.
