Grand Opening

Question Posted Sunday January 14 2007, 9:35 pm

My father opening his business next week. Is there a standard procedure on how to run an opening? I've called people around my area and they are not sure. Google wasn't much help either. Invitations were already sent and food is taken care of - I'm not sure on how to actually run it in terms of the order of events, speech, etc. Does the ribbon and over-sized scissors need to be used? Thanks.

I agree that something memorable and viewable needs to be done as a symbolic moment for the opening and celebratory fact of the event. Gratitude must be expressed to all that are there to help in the celebration and coupons or something as a thankyou should definately be a part of a smart business opening.

You didn't say what kind of business it is, so I can't give you much information other than the ribbon cutting ceremony isn't something you have to do.

Here is a link on how to plan a ribbon cutting ceremony that may help you out:

Maybe you can do something like this:

Say, you are opening a restaurant. You could have a raffle drawing for a free dinner for 2. You could give out, say, 5 of those, and maybe 1 big give away of a dinner for 4. Depends on how big the restaurant is, and how classy, as to how many free meals you would give away.
