science help Ok, this is really a question about my homework that i have no idea how to do. How much force does it take to stop a falling object? Our teacher told us that part of the answer was "enough" but i can't figure the rest of it out

to get it to stop the force has to be equal to the force of the falling object. the falling object technically isn't applying any force..think of it as freely falling, therefore the only force existing there, is the force of gravity pulling it down. so the force to stop it has to be equal to the force of the gravity pulling it down, but in the opposite direction.
thats if im remembering my physics correctly. ]
