k theres this guy at my school and i dont know him but hes really hot and i see him looking at me all the time. How can i strike a converstaion with him, without looking desperate and also how can i drop some hints?

You have to make sure that you don't just walk up and start stuttering or mumbling/drooling all over him. So think about what you are going to say. Think of something intersting that you think would be a good topic to start with. Then watch for a good oppertunity to talk to him. Now preps are a lot harder to do this with becuase they have their little/big groups of people that think, talk, act, and move exactly the way that he does. So think of things that could be a good ice breaker...but nothing cheesy like "sure is a nice day out, huh?" or something...weather...boring/lame icebreaker... just be carefull, I'm sure you'll do great! Another thing, be nice to his friends, the only way a relationship (friendship or more) can work is if you are nice with their friends. Never insult or ignore his friends. Now, good luck! Ok, so he is a prep...and he's shy? Hmmm...well, I don't know. If you see him reading something, or...see him doing something that looks interesting. It is near impossible for you to talk to him and it not seem like you haven't before...just talk to him...it will get easier. But don't show that you're nervous, and it will make it easier for him to talk back...but maybe don't approach him when he might be really surprised. Talk about something that was over the school anouncments or something tf you might have heard that was interesting. Something on the news...but that might be boring...I don't know...I'm not quite sure what to do with a shy prep...grrr...well...that's about the best I can do...hope it helped!

In the morning before school started I was sitting on a bench and dropped my pencil, I planned on picking it up but I was in mid conversation so I decided to leave it there until I was done. This guy that was walking by assumed I dropped the pencil so he would pick it up, so he smiled and handed it to me. It was humiliating because that isn't what I meant at all.
Moral of the story: drop things when he walks by, I guess guys take that as a hint.

ask him a question. like today there is this cool person in my class i dont nessicarily like him. but he seemed cool. and we both had the same brand hoodys on and i sed omg look we have the same kind of hoody. and he said yeah! and like.. came and sat next to me. lol it was fun hes cool. maybe ask him for help with something.
