Ok well I was in gymnastics when I was 4 and I went till I was 6. Then I basicly taught myself how to do everything like a front handspring, back walkover, etc. The problem is that I want to do a backhand spring. I know I could probably do it Im just too scared to try. I can do a backflip on the trampoline. So how should I start to do one? Like all the steps? Do I need a running start? Can I build it off of a back walk-over?

start off in a sitting position and you hands by your side
swing ur arms back and then pull them over your head and reach for the ground ( so your in a bridge position)
then flip your feet over
make sure that when you come over; ur back is arched NOT flat lke a table.
im sorry if this was confusing :/
hope i helped (:
Also, how old are you ? if oyu have any bigger or older firends that can do a backhandspring or cheer. maybe they could spot you.. or you could try asking your gym teacher for assistence [ sweetxxdreams's advice column | Ask sweetxxdreams A Question ]

advicecutie22 answered Saturday January 6 2007, 3:04 pm: A back handspring is a very scary thing to try but the first time is always the hardest. You can build it off of a back walkover but it is a lot different. You don't need a running strat unless you want to do a round-off backhandspring. It is easiest to do on a tumble track or off of a tumble track. Make sure you arch you back when u go back and jump backwards not up. If you need any more specific help let me know.
