close out of your itunes when you've downloaded the songs you want, and then plug your ipod into your computer, and open the itunes back up again.
it should automatically update your songs in your library and put them into your ipod.

i got an ipod nano myself, and i was having the same problem you did until i tried that.

if you need any more help with it, you can always message me!

Hi! When you plug your ipod in, there should be a little ipod picture/icon that comes up next to the name of your ipod. When you see that icon and the name of your ipod, you take the song you have and drag it all the way to the name of your ipod. While you are dragging it, and you get to your name, before you drop it into that file, there should be a little box with a + sign in it. If ther is the circle w/ the line in it, then something is wrong. After your done dragging it where that little ipod icon is, the song should be on your ipod. I hope I helped and I hope I have worded it right. If you would like to ask me any questions, I would be glad to answer! <3 <3
