Hair!(lots of q's)

Question Posted Wednesday December 20 2006, 4:29 pm

ok,so im cutting my hair about 2 1/2 inchs cause it is COMPLEATLY dead, but im wondering,i might get a little bit of layers, what do i tell the person if i only want a little bit of layers? i know i cant just say that, they'll get confused,i want some just for movement in my hair maybe a little more for style. also, once i get my hair cut, i want to get a new straightener, which ones dont burn your hair as much? (i heard there are some that hydrate your hair with steam- any brands that you know of?) alsooo,if there is no straightener like that what are some really good brands of heat protectant spray? thanks!

Say long Layers, that gives it a nice gradual edge without cuttinmg to much off Also for straigtening, i just asked my hair person they said no iron completley protects it, but try Bed Head Head Rush( from Tigi) spray when its wet before blow dry snd dry before ironing, just spray it lightly, or it might get sticky. It gives it shine and protects it from burning. If you need to restore your hair use Redken or Bed Head All soft shampoo/conditioner its amazing for dry hair.

Hi there.
I'm obsessed with haircare, so I'm happy to help on this one :)

Okay, as for you hair cut.
Make sure you POINT to the stylist how short you want it. I once saw a tv show and they mentioned that 2.5 inches to you is alot LONGER then 2.5 inches to the stylist. Thus, I recommend getting a picture if it all possible.
Do not hesitate to ask questions or tell him/her if they are not cutting it the right way, they actually prefer it when you tell them what you don't like about what they're doing. If you think about it, the stylist is just guessing and hoping it meets your expectations. So for the layers, tell him/her that you want 1-4 layers, where you want them to start, how long you want them, how far apart you want them etc. And fully discuss the cut before they take scissors to your hair.

For the straighteners; there aren't really any that 'protect' your hair no matter what people say. I once asked my stylist the same thing, and he told me flat out no.

The key to protecting hair when straightening is getting a good quality flat iron (He recommened a CHI, a Sedu, or a Helen Of Troy Ceramic Series) and how you treat your hair. You should wash your hair atleast 4 times a week with a hydrating shampoo [I use SunSilk Hydra TLC, you could also try Pantene Time Renewal Restorative]
Also, you must use a heat protectant before straightening. I use CHI 44 Iron Guard.

Make sure your hair is bone dry before flat ironing. Also deep condition about once a month. Many brands (Garnier, Pantene) make a deep conditioner, you just need to find the best one for you.

Good Luck <3

show her the layers you want like the length or where you want them in your hair you know stuff like that.

With straighteners you can get some revlon heat protecting stuff it works really good with me just use 2 squirts cause more than that will make your hair very oily. :]
Hope i helped
