Question Posted Saturday December 16 2006, 1:49 pm
I'm a girl and whenever I shave "down there" my skin is really rough. I use Skintamate (Sp?) shaving cream and I do it in the shower.
Are there any ways to get a more smooth shave with less bumps and roughness?

First, use a trimmer, and trim the hair off. This is helpful for two reasons: 1) It helps you see better what you are doing, so you don't mistakenly cut, and 2) It reduces bumps since you are not shaving as much as you would without trimming it. Also, with shaving cream, you would want to use some that are high in aloe and vitamins. Aloe smooths the skin, and the vitamins to moisturize the skin back. Also, first shave with the hair, and for best results, don't shave all off at once. Shave off another centimeter off, and wait a couple days (so the bumps will go down). Then shave it off against the hair. Do it slowly; not quickly. Also, when you are done shaving, no matter what (like I said earlier) you'll still see a little redness. Buy some Aloe Vera gel (same stuff you use for sunburn) and apply it on. This reduces any inflammation like the bumps and redness. The redness will fade off within a day or two.

Every stroke you take make sure you run it under the shower head to et rid of the hair. The shave up (or against the hair).... Using a vibrating razor always helps, or waxing which really hurts is better.

Always make sure to use a new sharp razor.
Sadly, no matter what, you will most probably always get the bumps.
Might sound odd, but use conditioner to shave with :) some people swear by it!
