Make sure your computer is up to snuff; slow processors and too little ram will KILL you. Have to keep your latency down too.

I played more DoD and DOD:S, but the learning curve is about the same: it takes a long time of getting hosed before you get better. I had to play for over a year hardcore before I got good enough to get random clan invites (though after 2+ years in WoW, I'm sure I suck now).

If you die early a lot, watch the best players via killcam. You can see how they move, where they run, what weapons they use, etc etc. You can see where they shoot through walls, where they hide. I helped run a LAN store for several years, so I got good by getting up and watching my friends that were really good while I was dead. Harder in DoD though, due to the differences in respawning in matches.

And don't play other FPS games while you play CS either. Many of our players were at least CAL-M, and a few later got into CAL-I I think, and they swore that whenever they played another FPS for even a small time, the different 'feel' would put them off their game. I myself quit playing CS while I practiced DoD, because I could feel a difference too.

Dear CS,

No worries you'll get better at CS, it took me 5 months to get good, but you'll good over time. If you want i'm making a clan if you want to join, i will help train you, it'll be fun, (as long as i'm not made fun of because i'm a girl playing on a steam account) it'll rock and you'll get better no worries.
