Gyno is short for Gynecologist. You should go to one if your under 18 and want birth control or are having any kind of female problems. Other than that, you probably wont have to go till your 18 and it is very important to go every year. Going to one can save your life. They check for STD's once every couple years (or when you tell them to) and they check for breast cancer and all the other kinds of female cancer. Here's what they do: (don't be frightened, everyone has to do it at some point in there lives, Ive done it for 8 years now and I promise the whole thing doesnt last more than 5 minutes-if that.
First, you put on a paper gown that covers nothing. Then you lay back and put your feet into the stirrups so that your legs will be spread. The doc then puts the spectrum in to open you up. They use a cotton swab to take a sample of your insides to send to a lab to check for cancer etc. They'll also check for any ugly discharge. When that is done, you get out of the stirrups but stay laying down. The doc will then do a breast exam to check for abnormal growths. You will then have a chance to talk about any concerns you may have. And then you are done. ]
Gyno is a shorter version of gynocologist. :) if you're sensitive down there it'll hurt a little bit, because they spread you open down there with these things they say are smaller then a tampon, but really they're not. haha. they ask you some questions about your sex life, and stuff, they can test for std, and any sorta deaseases, but if you're a virgin you have nothing to worry bout! i hope it gose well. :] ]
Gyno is short for Gynocologist. Most people say "Gyno" because it's faster to say.
When you go to the Gyno (from what a friend told me) It may hurt, but everyone is different. For her it didn't so much. But probably because she is sexually active, so her vagina is larger than to someone who isn't sexually active.
What Gynos do, they evaluate you, ask you questions, and see if you are having any reproductive problems that you suspect. Then they stick a tube into you, seeing if there any thing that is a potential problem to your body. They detect HPV, certain cancers, and STDs. They also detect if you have any tumors or cysts in the uterus.
Try not to be nervous when you go to the Gyno, because when you are nervous, your muscles tighten (including the vagina), and it's harder for the Gyno to help you out. Stay calm, and you'll be fine! There's not much to worry about! ]
Gynecologist. ^__^
They do...anything that pertains to women's health! Checking for STDs, including cervical cancer, taking care of your pregnancy, performing surgery to prevent pregnancy, breast cancer...those kinds of things.

You don't have to go to one right now, but it is very important in the future!

To put it in an EXTREMELY blunt way...
It's a vagina doctor.
And no, you don't -HAVE- to go unless you're sexually active or 18 or you're having certain problems downstairs. ]
may i suggest google, wikipedia, urbandictionary or dictonary.com, you probibly spent more time writing this question than it would have taken to look it up on any of these
hope it helped

PS (i have no friggin idea either) ]
