Absolutely nothing wrong with either of those bands! :) I myself am a recovering Green Day addict; I own all but one of their albums and they were pretty much all I listen to.
If any band you like is in the area on tour, check them out! I saw Green Day live last year on the American Idiot tour, but they won't be touring for awhile. Not sure about SOAD, sorry.
Yeah, just check out some other bands! You can still listen to your favorite, just add some variety! It is the spice of life, after all. And nobody likes bland stuff! =)
Listen to other music! A couple suggestions off the top of my head:

-Rock Star Supernova
-Incubus
-Nickelback
-Jack's Mannequin
-Breaking Benjamin

Also "similar artists" on iTunes.
