i have a lot of discharge. its almost everyday and even when i wear a panty liner it'll go through so it looks like i peed my pants. i can't wear a pad everyday because, you just cant. so i was wondering if there was anything causing an excessive amount of discharge. im a virgin but i do masturbate. so could this be a factor?
Melody answered Thursday December 7 2006, 8:31 pm: Your masturbation has nothing to do with the amount of discharge your body is producing. At your age (14 if i'm correct) it's normal to experience frequent discharge, but it's not normal to produce enough to go through a pantiliner and your pants. I would advise going to the doctor, because no one on advicenators is going to be able to give you an examination or medically tell you what the problem is. It may be a vaginal infection which can be caused by spermicide, lubrication, or it could be a foreign object (toilet paper, cotton of tampon) has managed to work itself into you causing an infection. Or it could be "thrush". This may be followed or accompanied with itching. If you've ever had sex, it could be chlamydia or another form of STDs. No matter what it is though, it's best to go get an examination from a doctor.
If you would like to TRY to reduce the amount of discharge, try some of these tips i've found:
-Keep your entire genital area clean & dry.
-Avoid douching.
-If you KNOW it's a yeast infection, ue an over-the-counter cream or vaginal suppository.
-Try to avoid stress.
-Eat yogurt with live cultures or take Lactobacillus acidophilus tablets when on antibiotics to avoid a yeast infection.
-Use condoms to avoid catching or spreading sexually transmitted diseases.
-Keep your blood sugars under good control if you have diabetes.
[EDIT]
I didn't mean an entire tampon. I meant maybe some of the cotton came off of the tampon as you were inserting it or taking it out. And the possibility of STDS were just a possibility. I wasn't saying you had an STD, nor was I assuming you were sexually actice. I was just covering everything I could to help you out. A four is a good rating to say the least, but I would like to know why I received a 4 while everyone else received a five. So please let me know. :) [/END EDIT] [ Melody's advice column | Ask Melody A Question ]

Madalyn772 answered Thursday December 7 2006, 3:44 pm: Masturbation cannot cause discharge to thicken or increase in amount. It's simply a way to pleasure yourself. There's nothing you can really do about the discharge but wear a pantiliner, unless you go to the doctor and get examined. You could have an infection.
Most likely though, it's just natural to your body. The masturbation can cause a change in the amount of lubrication WHILE your masturbating, but it won't do anything otherwise.

agnes answered Thursday December 7 2006, 10:42 am: You shouldn't be worried about masturbation, it can't cause significant changes in the amount of discharge. You said that it happens "almost" everyday. It's normal for the amount of discharge to vary during the menstrual cycle. If it smells normal and you don't experience any strange symptoms like itching or burning, there is nothing to be worried about. However, it's always better to be safe than sorry, so I suggest you talk to a health care professional. If you see a gynaecologist they can take a sample of your discharge and test it in the lab to check if there's any reason for concern. [ agnes's advice column | Ask agnes A Question ]
