I have thick curly hair!! And i feel lucky that i do have it but............... my hair styles r so limited i want one that will not make me seem dull or to preppy or sporty. My constant hair style is half up half down snd its getting dull. Just ;ast night i cut my slef one side bang to add coolness but im still dull!! i need a few hairstyles i could do with my hair that wont make me half to straighten it.
HELP!!
OH MY GOSH, you sound exactly likee me!
I have the same type of hairr. Okay this is what I do ; most of the time i keep it up in a messy bun with a little of my side bangs down. Alsooo, try braids, french or normal. Straighten it all and have it in a low pony kind of on your shoulder. Or just straighten it and keep it down normal.ALSO- buy moose, and keep it down and curly! Sorry I dont have much... but like you said hair styles are EXTREMLY LIMITED for thick curly hair, and I know from experience. Hope I could help. xoxo
x3TRAGiC answered Tuesday December 5 2006, 7:22 pm: well, there are some cute hair styles i see in my school that have to do with curly hair. it might be hard since your hair is thick, but if you take a shower in the morning before you go to school. you can put lots of gell & hairspray in it to make it look wet-curlyish. that always looks really cute. if you dont like straightening it, then wear it down. im sure it looks good. LM answered Tuesday December 5 2006, 4:44 pm: Have you considered getting your hair layered? Layers get rid of some of the "bulk" without getting your hair thinned (Bad idea, btw. Thinning can very esily destroy your hair if it's not done right!) Also, it'll make your hair more manageable and add some bounce to it.
As for hairstyles, regardless of having layers or not:
1. Wear it down, parted either in the middle or off to the side slightly (depending on the shape of your face). Style it with hairgel & shine serum when it's damp & scrunch it (even though you already have curls, they'll look better & won't stick to your head & will dry more naturally)
2. Half-up, half-down. Most people can easily pull this look off. Just gather some of your hair starting around your ears & use either a hairclip or an elastic to hold it up. Always use a hair elastic, never a regular one. They'll pull out your hair!!
*This also looks cute if you straighten just the bottom section of hair (the part not in a clip/tie) My friend does this sometimes & its adorable.
3. Either style your hair curly (like in the first one) or straigt. Then, finish with a headband. It's a nice, casual look that doesn't take much effort to do.
4. If you're thinking about a more permanent change, consider some subtle highlights (and some strikingly bright ones too) Especially with curly hair, they give dimension & color (obviously) to even the most basic look & if done correctly, look totally natural.
5. Side bangs- in my opinion, are much easier to cut if your hair's straight. That way, when you're wearing your hair straight it doesn't look funky and uneven- unless that's the look your want, of course!
Lastly, don't worry so much about what other people judge your hair as. What's "preppy" one day could be "LYKE 0MG, s0oo0o0UNKEWLL!" the next. Style your hair in whatever way makes you feel confident.
I hope my suggestions help you! If you need more ideas/products (I have naturally curly hair as well, so I know about it haha) feel free to ask me to my inbox/IM =) [ LM's advice column | Ask LM A Question ]
