weight loss = crashed immune system?

Question Posted Monday December 4 2006, 9:56 pm

Hi! I'm fifteen, 5'5" & 155 lbs. Now, I know I'm overweight and I've lost 35 lbs so far. I feel alot better about myself, but I want to get to around 125-135. I also suffer from chronic migranes.

Now, since I've lost all this weight, my migranes have gotten MUCH more frequent & intense. I also have gotten sick a lot more (nothing too serious, but I got more cold this year alone than I did my whole life). I thought this was because of my diet (I don't eat like i used to.. which was beyond disgusting gluttony.. but that's another story for another day!), and still i get plenty of nutrients & take a vitamin everyday, but, I don't know.

Could my semi-drastic weight loss have caused this, or is it something else? I'll ask my doctor when I go again, but that's not for a few months.

thanks in advance =)

Congratulations on losing what you have lost so far and good for you for wanting to lose even more and be more successful. I am not a doctor so I can't tell you for sure, but it's possible that the drastic weight loss could have caused it. Your body went through a major change and the reduced amount of bodyfat in a short amount of time could have made it harder for your body to maintain homeostasis. Your doctor will know for sure, but it makes sense to me. Keep going on the path you're going and just be careful. If something hurts or doesn't feel right, skip it and save yourself for a day when you are better.
