Okay so my school is putting on a play and I tried out Wednesday. Well today my teacher/director asked me if I wanted to be the assistant director. I immediately thought I bombed the audition but she said she could tell I wanted to learn and thought it would be good to learn about it from someone she thought could teach me well (her). Incase you don’t know what an assistant director does; they help the director out with things to help the play go over smoothly and what not. And that's where my problem comes in. I really would like to help her out, but I fear that the cast members won’t take me seriously or they'll hate me or take advantage of me (because I can’t be very mean). I don’t exactly get respect from other cast members. And I feel stupid when I "lecture" them. I also don’t want to disappoint my teacher. I don’t want to accept the role and then not come through for her or screw up and embarrass myself in front of everyone. So what do ya'll think? Should I tell my teacher yes or no?
Also: Any other advice you may have about how to handle any of the situations or if you have a comment about anything I mentioned, please don’t hold back. I'm open to ANYTHING.

If there are any large problems that is the job of the director and you can let them handle it. Anything minor will help build your confidence with dealing with people. I suggest getting to know all of the cast and create a level of friendship because it will help the production run more smoothly.
Finally, I think you should be honoured that they would like you to be the assistant director. They must see that you are organized and responsible, two great qualities.
Hopefully that helps you make a decision
Good luck :)
And just remember, if you accept but run into a big problem you can ask for advice on advicenators again to help you out. [ emilyy's advice column | Ask emilyy A Question ]
