School play has to contain strong message.

Question Posted Wednesday November 29 2006, 1:26 pm

I am performing at a celebration evening. We have been asked to write and perform a play that is either hilarious or contains a strong message. We did hilarious last celebration evening.
So i need a play that contains a strong message. we were thinking bullying which results to suicide, or following the 'it' crowd and see wheere you get in ten years.
Any advice welcome! we need plot story line ? characters even ?
thanks,
S

I really like the "IT" crowd thing.
Like...show a girl in highschool that ends up in the "IN" crowd and show her at the highschool reunion in a not so great life where her mom like died or something and she is depressed because nobody held her hand through it.
Then go back and do it again but she finds some amazing friends that help her out through like...the death of her mom or something and she ends up a happy successful person.
Just a suggestion...you don't have to like it lol.
XOXO

A really good piece of fiction that could be adapted into a play is The Matchstick Girl.
Disney made an amazing version that they stuck with The Little Mermaid, the special 2-disk edition. I cried my eyes out over that one. You can see a poor version of it here:

You can watch a flash version of it here:

It contains a VERY strong message and it is appropriate for the season. You can find a sypnosis for it here:

I have been doing plays since I was 3 years old and I am now 17 years old so I know all about plays. I mainly do shakespeare and I think Romeo and Juliet has a strong messege. It deals with sucide, death, fighting, and true love. It takes a great deal of work to put on but maybe you could do certain scenes from there not the whole play...hope I helped
