Here is the rating guidelines we like everyone to use. Should you ever be rated unfairly feel free to file an abuse report (link is in blue column to your left), and it may possibly be changed.

The best way to get your questions answered is to
write it neatly, for the most answers ask it to the entire site, good spelling is a plus too!

Welcome to the site! Here's the guidelines....

A rating of one should only be given if you feel the advice you got was so abusive that the one answering should be banned from the site.

Rate a 5-For answers you think are really great. If someone seems to have gone out of their way to look things up for you, or put in extra effort to give you a well thought out answer, give them a 5.

Rate a 4- If you were given a really good answer that you just might try and use. This is the rating you will probably use a lot of.

Rate a 3-If the person tried and the answer is good but maybe they didn't put a lot of thought into it. Or maybe it just isn't quite what you were looking for, but was still pretty good advice.

Rate a 2- If the advice wasn't harmful but wasn't what you wanted. Can also be used If you get someone repeating what the person before them said. Remember to look at the time the question was answered (close times may have been answered at the same time). Also remember that the first person who answered your question is on the bottom of your list of answers. Read them from bottom
to top.

Rate a 1- Rate a one if the persons answer was rude or offensive. If they advised something
dangerous or illegal. If someone is bad enough to get a one, you should follow up by filing an abuse report. The link to the abuse reports is in the blue column on the left side of the page. Be sure you copy and paste the question link from the address bar so we can find it.

You can't really get people to answer your questions. It's their choice to whether or not they want to tackle your question or not. But if you really want someone to answer your question, just send a question to an individual comlumist.

Also when someone answers your question, on the very bottom of their answer, it should say "Rate this columnist? <1--2--3--4--5> or osmething like that. 1 is bad and 5 is good. Pick your number depending on how much the answer was helpful
