theres this girl at school, i barely know her, and she follows me around, she does not seem to have any other friends so i dont want to be mean and tell her to just 'sod off' i just need some space! what do i do?

Insecure types often fixate on people who are fun and confident! its great that you havent just told her to 'sod off' in your words, helping her could be the best way to get some space! give her some attention, introduce her to people that you think will be friendly towards her, so she can find her own friends. Soon she will have her own friends and wont follow you around as much!
