Question Posted Monday November 20 2006, 8:46 pm

what would you do if you were doing pet related tasks for a neighbor and they promised to pay you but after 5 months of hardwork they still didn't pay you or even mention? would you ask them for the money and how would you do it? or would you just quit?

I would definitely mention it. The best way to do it is to be polite and to the point: "Excuse me, Mr./Mrs. ____, but could I please get some information on my payments for taking care of your dog/cat/etc.?" They may apologize and promise to give you the money, but if they beat around the bush or make an excuse not to give you any money, tell them right out that you cannot take care of their animal anymore if they do not pay you for it. As long as you are polite and (semi)understanding, you should be fine. Good luck =)

if you have a problem with direct confrontation become official. sit down at your computer and invoice them with a bill.
title across the top ie. freds pet helper service.
then a sentence like " this is a bill for service rendered from (date x/x/2006 thru x/x/2005)
this bill is for $ x hours/days as x per hour/day for a total of .$x dollars
if this invoice is not paid by x/x/2006 service may be discontiued.
then say " thank you very much' and sign your name.
make sure to give them a week or two to pay if you do it this way. then either put it in their mail box or tape it to the front door. everybody gets bills they have to pay and alot of us ( including me ) dont remember bills that dont nag us a little bit. good luck!

Yes I'd ask them for the money. It is my right. Isnt it? I'd say " Hey asshole , where's the money you promised you bitch? " and then hold their pet as hostage and pretend to strangle it.

No I'm just kidding. "Hey Mrs ____ (then smile)May i know when do I get my pay?". It's alright to ask for it straight cos you've got nothing to be embarrassed about. They should be the ones getting embarrassed for not paying you yet ya know. So yea, don't quit. Go for it.
