AUDITION SONGS FOR A TEENAGE ALTO? (it's for Seussical)

Question Posted Sunday November 12 2006, 1:09 pm

I am auditioning for Seussical the Musical in a few weeks. My range is Low D-High D, But would prefer to sing a song that I can belt.
It has to be upbeat and catchy.

Also- do you think I would be better suited for Mayzie LaBird, The Sour Kangaroo, or Gertrude McFuzz? I'm slightly overweight (5'3" and 168) and I'm a redhead. I look like I'm about 16 or 17 and the production is for ages 8-18.
Any advice would help.

-go to this site:
[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
-Pick your gender, type of song, and vocal range ONLY, leave everything else blank and click submit query
-pick some random song, ones with multiple words are best, but dont click it
-copy the name of the song and go to google.com, search for it, but but it in quotes("song"), and find the lyrics
-go to audio.alltheweb.com and search for the song, again in quotes, to find an audio recording.
