it depends on where you got the music from. If you got it from somewhere like limewire the sound is low because of the file not the ipod. Also there are settings in there to change it. I have an older nano so i believe mine is different then the new ones they have now

okay... on your main menu go to settings and then volume control. it is automatically set on about 3/4 of the way. if u want it louder, move the clicker wheel to the loudest!

hope i helped and congrats on the nano, they are great

It might be 1 or 2 things.
Either the song, it could be a quite song, i know some of the songs on my iPod are much quieter then others.
or
It could be the head fones. If you usethe iPod head fones they go up wayyy loud if you use other kinds it wont be as much.

To turn up the volume, you have to do it individually on each song, and you have to do this in iTunes. Open iTunes, and right click on the song you wish to turn the volume up on. (In this case you might want to do this to all of them) Click on "Get Info" and then click on the tab on the top that says "Options". On the top thing that says "Volume Adjustment", click and drag the arrow thing to "+100%". This will double the volume on the song and on the iPod once you update it!

the new ipod update program thing has a volume control thing & it won't let it get too loud because of all the deaf's caused my ipod earphones. so theres nothing you can really do about it, except use a different pair of earphones with a volume control on that too, which will allow you to have to volume controls which can make it louder.

hope i helped =]
