For the first picture, I'm pretty sure they scrunched their hair. Use Aussie Sprunch Spray, just because it's the best. My hair won't srunch no matter how bad I want it to, just because I have stick straight hair. If you have a bit of a natural wave, try this:
1. Shampoo your hair with products meant to help your hair's flexibility and texture. I think they have shampoo out now formulated to prep the hair for straight or curly looks. Maybe invest in some of this?
2. After shampooing, towel dry your hair. Make sure it's damp, but not dripping.
3. Apply some hair gunk (as i call it) from the root to tip for firmness. Hair gel or glaze is better for thick hair and foam or mousse is better for fine. Experiment and see which is better.
4. Dry your hair. Use a dryer or let it dry naturally. Either way, you must be patient. Don't rush the drying process.
5. Grab a piece of hair in your hands and squeeze, pushing the ends upward causing it to scrunch. If you are using a hair dryer, direct the air towards the part of hair you are working with. Drop that piece and grab another. Continue this process until your hair is completely dry.
* Grabbing small chunks of hair and working slower gives you a more curly look. I am pretty sure this is what you want, because that is what it looks like in the picture.
* Grabbing large chunks gives more of a wave effect.
For the bangs in this picture, straighten them with a straightner. Use a glosser to give them a shiny look.
If this doesn't work, obviously you have very straight hair like I do. Try using a small curling iron and curling each strand of hair & then scrunching it.

In the second picture, it looks like they've scrunched their hair again. Only in large sections and then teased it up a little with a comb.

In the third picture (she's VERY pretty. urg) she's straightened her hair. I'm sure you know how to do that. If not, ask me in my inbox.
To tease her hair up like that, she took the section of hair she wanted and put the hair tye or barrette and put it 2 inches above her crown. Then she pushed the barrette up, which pushed her hair up as well. This hairstyle takes a lot of practice and is very hard to get just right. But keep practicing.

To get the bangs in the last picture, they have to be cut like that. You really can't acheive all of these hair styles just like that with the same hair cut. But good luck. :] [ Melody's advice column | Ask Melody A Question ]
duhitsDONNA answered Wednesday November 8 2006, 4:09 pm: just ask your hair stylist for side-swept bangs. take a picture of them with you too, it will be easier for them to see exactly what you want. as for curling..just use a curling tongs but don't hold your hair in it for too long. x [ duhitsDONNA's advice column | Ask duhitsDONNA A Question ]
KATIEcanhelp answered Wednesday November 8 2006, 1:16 am: kayy well dont go being a wanna-be there girly...
the first two are way kute and ive heard some techniques of using curling gel that you use with your hands or with damp hair, scrunch your hair up and maybe hair spray it? you can always use a waving machine(kind of like a straitner but wavey) not a crimper, thats not what im talking about. the way i wave my hair is when my hair is damp after a shower i have someone do french braids al the way down my head from front to back and tie with hair rubber band at bottom to keep them in. and then spray with half water half hair spray solution. they look like cornrolls but when you wake up the next morning take a comb and take them out and WAHLAA!
the last two with the poofs... id say that last girl used mucho hairspray. you can try teasing it and it looks like the bump is thick so use alot of hair and hairspray thats all i can say to help you out! [ KATIEcanhelp's advice column | Ask KATIEcanhelp A Question ]
Anq3L_xO answered Monday November 6 2006, 9:49 pm: Ask your hairdresser about it, bring those pictures if you want. I did my bangs myself and just kind of looked at a picture and they turned out the way I wanted them. So if you want it done the way you want, I would say do it yourself. As for the poofiness of the hair && whatnot, I like to wear my hair braided for the day, then take it out later or the next day and curl it with a curling iron, then minimal hairspray and occasional fix-ups. It all depends on your hair and the texture, length, etc. [ Anq3L_xO's advice column | Ask Anq3L_xO A Question ]
