If he has a girlfriend, he's probably happy with her.
If he'd leave your current girlfriend for you, who's to say he won't do the same thing to you when another girl comes along?
You're probably better off staying friends. Or, don't go out with him right away if he breaks up with his current girlfriend, because it'll totally be on the rebound.
Like I said, you should probably move on from this guy. Just my opinion.
