For baseball, if there's a runner on first base and the batter strikes out on a wild pitch that hits the ground, can he run for first if the runner is stealing second?
soendearing answered Sunday October 29 2006, 8:08 am: I'm pretty sure you can. It's called "drop third strike", and the runner isn't really stealing second, it's like a hit basicly, only not really lol.
VainTaraLynn answered Sunday October 29 2006, 1:47 am: The batter can ONLY run if he's hit with a pitch(a walk), gets 4 balls & walks, or hits a ball and its not caught on a fly. The runner at first can steal a base no matter what, usually.
If the ball is caught on a fly though, the runner would have to go back to his base or he could be thrown out.
