So stressed up

Question Posted Sunday October 15 2006, 7:33 pm

In the uni that I go to, we have to fulful certain uni requirements such as taking modules(subjects) which are not from our faculty. For eg, if I'm from the faculty of science, I'm supposed to take a module from the faculty of arts.

So being a science student, I chose to take 2 arts module called "the influence of islam on contemporary malay society(with focus on singapore)" and "chinese tradition".

Both modules are very difficult; esp the one bout islam. I really regretted taking it and I'm so stressed up now that I have to write essays for both modules!! I can't think of what to write for the islam one and I have to submit the essay by the end of OCT. I'm getting really stressed up and I really don't know what to do.

I don't know what to write and I don't know how to go about doing it. I'm seriously stressed out right now. I can't sleep and all and yet I can't think of any topic to write for my essay. Someone please help..

Well, I know nothing about the influence of Islam on contemporary Malay society, so I can't help you much there.

I can, however, sympathize; I was in engineering last year and they made me take two courses not in science-related fields. I ended up in "Philosophical Texts" and it was awful!

Try taking half an hour before you start to think about your essays. Break them down, chunk by chunk. Start off with the thesis and outline, then fill in quotes and proofs. Try not to think of the whole thing at once, because that usually makes you panic.

Is there anything you've run into in class that interested you? Any questions that have popped up in your head? How about something in your textbook that wasn't covered in enough detail that you want to know something about?

Good luck!
