Mm, well he's a teenager, what can you say? We're all extremely moody and we're always changing moods with whatever's happening to us, so he might've just been having a bad day or something and might not be up for talking.
I would just keep attempting at talking to Kevin and everything and maybe even try talking to him about it. Just be like,"Hey, were you okay yesterday? You seemed like in sort of a bad mood." ( Him: (whatever he'll say) Oh, because I was just wondering. You seemed like you didn't want to talk to me or anything, and I didn't know if it was me or what." Then if he is the gentleman he should be, he'll apologize for being a jerk to you. But if these mood changes keep happening and everything, I would just move on from Kevin relationship-wise, because who'd want to be in a relationship with someone whose moods are always changing? It'd never be that much fun.
As for this Salvador thing, I don't think race matters. If the people at your school are nice and accepting like everyone in the world should be, then it shouldn't matter what race you date or not, just as long as you two like eachother and are happy, that's all that matters. And trust me, I'm sure he doesn't mind if you're not as "accomplished" as he is. People like eachother for who they are, not how much they know, or how much they've done. That could even be a good quality about you to him ; you're more down to earth and just like to hang out and relax and not to do so much work and everything. If you don't already talk to him or anything, start to know and get to know him alot better and maybe even ask him for some help with work in class ( to give you two the chance to talk ) and just keep a really good thing with Salvador, so if Kevin doesn't work out, he's always there to go for.
