Hmm.. not really advice, is it?!
I like many bands. Could say i favour the indie/alternative/electronica side though.
Eg, Ladytron, Cansei de ser sexy, Tom Vek, The scene Aesthetic, The rocket summer, all the obvious ones everyone should know about, and oldies, like Pixies and stuffs.
