humorist-workshop

really small vegetarian!!!

Question Posted Wednesday September 27 2006, 9:44 pm

hi, I'm a 15 year old girl turning 16 next month and i've been a vegetarian since I was 13. I became really sick from eating meat, like throwing up and having pins and needles everywhere and stuff - i was just really sick. it happened a few times so i decided to go vegetarian. i eat tuna about 3 times a week though - fish is the only meat i eat. Well, my problem is that i haven't grown at all since I became a vego, everyone says i look like i'm 12 which is humiliating and i weigh 47 kg (which varies) and i'm only 159cm tall. I'm really short compared to my friends and i hate the fact i look so young when im almost 16! is this to do with the food i'm eating? i dont really know what i should be eating and the lentils thing doesn't really appeal to me. I just want to grow!! also should i take vitamin suppliments? i take multivitamin/mineral suppliments everyday. Please help me!

Well, I'm not a vegetarian so I would exaclty be sure, so I found this site with a person who practically asked the same question:

I don't think dieting would necessairly effect your height that much, and I don't think the way you eat would effect the way you look in terms of your face. It just might be your genetics and the way you're growing or not growing and how you look. Just incase, I tried Googling up if being a vegetarian effect how old you look and such, and nothing came up for it, so it just might be the way you look.

Heres some sites for you to help you out on some good healthy foods for vegetarians:

Especially read the bottom site. It tells you about supplements and everything you're taking. You really don't need them. If you look onto some of those veg sites I showed you, they'll provide you and show you how to cook things with enough vitamins and nutrients in them, I'm sure.

And just remember about your looks and height, it's just your genetics. I'm sure over time, you're height spurts and such'll kick in and you'll get taller and look older. The body doesn't stop developing until you're 18 years old, so you still have 2 long years ahead of you to go. Also, being 5'2" ( I hope I did the math right )isn't THAT bad at all. I'm 5'4" and I'm 15 going on 16 in July. And there's nothing to be embarassed about! Alot of people think short girls are actually really cute. :)

I hope I helped.
