Laptop. I'm looking to buy a laptop. I download a lot of music. How many GB's are ideal?

If you're worried about music storage, then take this into consideration, 1 gigabyte is approximately 1024 megabytes, we'll round this down to 1000 to make the calculations easier. Your average song is about 4 megabytes, usually less, that's 250 songs per gigabyte, multiply that times 20 and you get 5,000 songs, that's a lot of music. If you still think you need more space, an 80 gigabyte drive will hold 20,000 songs, 160 gigabyte, 40,000 songs...you get the point. Now, I didn't take into account your OS install or other applications, regardless, if music is your top priority, 80 gigabytes will do just fine. ]
If you're getting a laptop, get an apple laptop. If you get a cheap one it comes with software to manage and download all of your music, and a ton more. PCs you have to buy all the software seperately. I don't know if this deal is still going on, but there was a thing where if you're in college and you buy a laptop you get a free nano going on for a while. Hope I helped. ]
It's hard to say exactly, without having a full background on how much music you rip or download
(I'd like to point out at this time that using P2P networks to download music is illegal)
But, I'd be looking at a laptop with at least 80GB of storage, at the least. If you're currently on a home PC which you use to download music, take a look at how much space your music library takes up. Most librarys can take up anywhere from 600 megabytes to 20 gigabytes, so look carefully.
The minimum I would look into getting would be 80GB, but if I were you I would go for a laptop with at least 120GB if not 160GB just to be sure. ]
