americangirl101 answered Monday September 25 2006, 8:08 pm: Ok well it usually depends on the teacher. The way I've been taught to do it is in 5 paragraphs. But it also depends on the the grade im in 8th grade by the way ok. So every paragraph is 5 sentences long. The first paragraph is the introduction the middle 3 are the body which is the whole essay topic in depth, and the 5th paragraph is the conclusion which wraps it up. I hope I helped good luck with your essay!! ♥ americangirl ♥ [ americangirl101's advice column | Ask americangirl101 A Question ]

Different teachers have different expectations of their students. Some also grade harder. First you need to do research. Find out about the musical etc. Do you need to do a bibliography (if you don't know, it's a list of all the sources you used to do the paper so you give credit to the authors). It may make it easier to do an outline. The proper way to write an essay is to start out with the introduction. Most essays are five paragraphs. The introduction should be the shortest. Start out with an introduction sentence. The very last sentence should be the thesis statement. A thesis statement is what the entire paper is about. It sums it up in just one sentence. If you have three topics, you should list these in the thesis statement in the order in which you are going to put them in the following paragraphs. After the introduction paragraph, you need three body paragraphs. Each paragraph needs its own subtopic. If you're writing about dogs, then your thesis statement could be "Dogs are good pets because they are loyal, obediant, and loving." Then, your second paragraph would be about how they are loyal, your third paragraph about how they are obediant, and your fourth paragraph about how they are loving. The fifth paragraph will be your conclusion. The conclusion sums up your essay. You could say "In conclusion, dogs are good pets because they are loyal, obediant and loving". The conclusion is about the same length as the introduction paragraph and it restates the thesis statement in different words. I hope this helps. If you have anymore questions I'd be more than willing to help. Good luck! <3 Dana [ littleblufirefly's advice column | Ask littleblufirefly A Question ]
