i like the popular guy
i know that everyone likes the popular guy but i really like him. i have lunch with him and we talk but normally just about sports or the math homework. he's a year older than me. basically i want to know how to talk to him and have a decent conversation and hint to him that i like him without publically humiliating myself and getting hurt if he doesn't like me back.

like miss bones says, solidify your friendship first, most gilrs never speak to popular guys, he must think of you as cool, or more than cool otherwise he wouldnt talk to you, continue talking to him , but not about the same thing each week otheriwse he'll get bored of you and go away.
so try to look nice for school, be interested in the things he is,
if there is a party sometime soon, bring it up he might say :
oh yeah should be fun, are you going with anyone?
or
oh yeah im taking tiffany (or whoever) who are you taking?
it should probably be the first one if he isnt an insensitive toilet brush, so you say:
no noones asked me u?
and hell say
yeah im going with amber (?)
or
noone really (and maybe)/do you wanna go?
if he doesnt say do you wanna go?
say
we coiuld go together if you want?
the "if you want" bit shows that you not to needy and your giving him some space in case he wants to say no, so keep that in definately. If he says yes say
great see you friday(?) then. or something to that effect, let him know that your happy that he said yes, withiut being desperate. if he says no, ask another guy, look really nice and try to make the popular guy jealous, (but to avoid being too mean to the other guy, say that u want to go just as friends, be extra nice to him as he might be a bit sad or annoyed even.

Just keep taking your lunch with him and talking to him. You're talking a popular guy, which many girls can't even do that. Solidify a friendship first and see where that leads.

Awe! That`s cute , well i went through this many times , and usually what i do is i just go up to him and I`m like , "Hey , What`s up?..and just start out a converstaion and then be like What are you gonna do over the weekend? & Kind of try to flirt with him , if you want him to know that you like him then just smile alot at him and when you talk to him be really sweet and say he forgets his lunch money offer him to get him chips or something!
