can you help me with a speech?

Question Posted Wednesday September 20 2006, 1:16 pm

I'm giving a speech tomorrow, and it's about "my basketball court" now ive wriiten everything im going to say - EXCEPT the introuction!
which, according to my teacher, is super important!

With that said, here comes my question..
I don't want to say "hey my name is.. and im going to talk about my basketball court" i want a fun way of introducing my speech!
something about the actual game, BASKETBALL, or the basketball court..

I know this is a total challenge for you,
but you said you liked writing..so thats why im asking.

So thank you - you are truly amazing if you help me with this.
I've been brainstorming but it's not coming to me!

thank you so much :)
for any ideas AT ALL about introducing my speech.

Hm. Well, alot of speeches like to be started off with a rhetorical question which you "ask the audience". So, you could start off,"Have you ever felt the energy and feeling when you make a basket? Well, I want to talk to you guys about my basketball court." Or, you could just begin with the feelings you feel and what it's like to play on one. You could be like "Dribbled to the left, faked a move to the right, shoots, and scooooore! Everyone cheers, and you're filled with a indescribable feeling. This is what it's like to play on a basketball court." Have some fun with it. Make it sound like you're actually playing the game and making a basket and it'll let the audience imagine themselves playing. Or if you ask them the question [ like in the first example ] it'll leave them thinking about times they've played basketball or what it's like to play basketball.

If you want to talk about it more, you can always message me again or IM me or message me on myspace, whatever you want. :)

I hope I helped!
