Ok. . .I've been going out with this guy(we'll call him "J1") for almost 4 months. . . But I don't like him anymore. . .I like my best friend(who we'll call"J2") I've known "J2" since 4th grade and he's told me he likes me too. . ."J1" is the type of guy who won't break-up with a girl. . . He's too sweet( in fact too sweet for my liking) I dont want to be just another one of those girls who dumps him. . .I'd rather have him break-up with me. . . And to make matters worse there's a Dance at my school this friday. . . HELP ME PLEASE

Don't let it linger, don't let feelings continue, and just be honest with him. If you just let it continue, in the end, him finding out he just got dumped and you've been kind of "pity-dating" him would only hurt him more. And I know you don't want to do it, but if he's not going to do it, someone has to. And don't try and figure out a way that'll make him wind up breaking up with you, cause that's just bad. So, just be honest with him, and let him know it's not working out, and you're really sorry. And with the J2 guy, if you like him, go for it. But don't be hanging out with him and flirting with him if J1 is near you guys. Give it some time. I hope I helped. [ MelLeDisko's advice column | Ask MelLeDisko A Question ]

I went through the exact same thing last year. IF your friend didn't like you.. would you still like your bf? If you wouldn't, then it's actually best for him and you to just end it. He'll get another chance to find a girl better for him.
If you're not happy with the situation, then why are you wasting your time putting the hard work into it?
