okay i twisted my ankle a few months ago. i was wondering, what other damages can you do to your ankle?? i can walk/run on it but i use an ace bandage when i run just incase. im getting it checked out soon, but it's weird. when i walk it doesn't hurt, but when i move it in any direction it does. its sore, extremely swollen, and a bit discolored. what could i have done to it that i can still walk on it?? i mean, if it's broken you wouldn't be able to, so what are my other options??
thanks!!

It is very unlikely you have broken it if you are still able to walk on it, unless you have fractured the cuboid bone, (in the middle of the ankle). This is very difficult to diagnose as it does not show up too well on x-rays. You can also still just about walk with this injury but it is painful and hard to break with just a twisted ankle. You do need to have it checked out, as some injuries need to be rested and some need to be used in order for them to recover successfully. You also may need physiotherapy. Damaged ankles can very painful and take quite a while to heal.
Hope that helps and good luck for an early recovery. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
