ductape_n_roses answered Monday August 28 2006, 5:47 pm: I have the same problem. I audition for a lot of violin stuff every year (At least four every year: YPP, CRO, All County, School, Plays..ok 5. )
There's something called a Beta Blocker (I believe it's called) but that's not the best choice since it actually slwos down your heart.
Stay away from caffeine or sugar filled food like candy, choco, etc because they will make your adreneline [sp?] pump up.
Before you go, eat a lot of protein (like chicken) and bananas (they're naturally stop your heart from beating faster making you nervous). So eat chicken and bananas. And and hour or 30min before you go on stage eat a banana. Just eat a lot of protein and banana =D
Haha and just RELAX. Tkae your mind off the orientation. Rehearse your speech in front of your family at least 5 times. Then read a book before you go on and get your mind off of it. And when you look up, focus only on your mom or dad and think to yourself that you're only reading to them. [ ductape_n_roses's advice column | Ask ductape_n_roses A Question ]
