I have very low self esteem and I dont like being around people because of my figure...
im about 5'7''-5'8'', and a little under 150 lbs. I dont think I am "ugly" but im not skinny at all. My first day of school is in like 20 days, and I wanna look a little better if possible. I dont want to like crash diet, but I do wanna work out and stuff. I need some ideas on how to tone up my body, please and thank you.

But, I'm a vegetarian, and have been for over a year and have lost a lot of body fat because of it and look a lot leaner. But if you go that route remember to find other ways to get protein in your diet, by vitamins or eating soy products like boca burgers.
People don't realize how much weight we gain from eating red meats like steaks or beef.
Also, if you're not into totally giving up meat, you can still try eating white meat like chicken OR eat fish.
This, plus a little regular excercise and staying away from fatty and sugary foods will help you both look and feel healthier. Although it does take a little time and self-discipline. [ OiShmoi's advice column | Ask OiShmoi A Question ]

I would stay away from ALL sugar...and only eat whole grain breads and cereal. EAt TONS of veggies. also fruits eat lots of those too. You could walk 2-3 miles everyday and don't spend a whole lot of time doing crunches because they wont help much till your fat is gone on your belly, and just make it look bigger because the muscles got bigger. If you excercise, but then eat fatty or sugary foods, you are not going to get anywhere because you are just putting fat and sugar right back into your body. You could try aerobics (buy a video at target or walmart pretty cheap) with weights, because if you do not lift weights while dieting, you lose muscle weight too, which you do not want. Kmayline719 answered Tuesday August 15 2006, 8:28 am: Kay well obviously, BIG results cannot happen
within 20 days. But until school starts, you can
try walking, stomach crunches to tighten your abdominal (tummy) muscles. This helps you look leaner fast, and it only takes a few weeks to start seeing results if you combine crunches and regular exercise with healthy eating. And also drinking 8 to 10 big glasses of ice-cold water a day. Drinking this much water will flush out your system, taking toxins and excess fat with it. Plus, the cold temperature of ice-water boosts your body's metabolism (fat-burning rate), making your body burn more calories.
