Usually people say "You can't have your cake and eat it too." It basically means that you can't have everything you want in life. Hope I helped!

kind of like what the columnist below said, and also it's like... when two people disagree, and one person doesn't want to compromise and everything goes their way. then they have their cake and eat it too. it's like getting your way completely, regardless of what other people need/want.
