I'm open to new ideas and Wiccan seemed interesting to me. My mother's not open minded at all and so I can't talk to her about it. I'm afraid to talk about it with my family because they are all close minded along with my friends. I don't mind that I want to persue wiccan. I wanted to know if anyone here was into Wiccan and I would like to talk to you guys...
Cale answered Wednesday August 9 2006, 2:59 am: Hello theree. Well i am 15 years old, and one of the few straight boys that i have found to be into Wicca. I just decided to read random questions just cause i was bored and to pass the time, but when i read some of the responces you were getting, especially the one from protossc541, i was just slightly angered and upset. They sound like they know a wicca who is purely into Wicca for the sake of using spells and magick, and tho that is a part of wicca, it is not the soule purpose for the belief. I am a former christian who could just never force myself to belive in god, and then i stumbled across wiccan and it has truly been a blessing in my life. protossc541 told you about her friend who says she can "visit mars" and "ride on her broom stick". to me it sounds like her friend is disgrassing the wiccan culture, Wicca is about the belief in the power and strength of nature and the elements, and the power you hold in yourself. I would love to be able to teach you what i know. My screen name is CALExSCREAMxIT. i would LOVE too teach you what i know, PLEASE IM me sometime. [ Cale's advice column | Ask Cale A Question ]

That said, don't let one-sided perceptions such as those by a previous columnist be your only reference, as it could be said that any religion + 'proof and logic' is an oxymoron. ;-)
As I hinted at earlier, Wiccans have many different practices and beliefs, but most have in common Goddess and/or God-worship, reverence for nature, and adherence to an interpretation of the Wiccan Rede (1).
If people startle at the mention of Wicca, they've likely confused it with something else. DO make a clear distinction between Wicca and witchcraft, for example, as not all Wiccans actually practise magic as we think it. Elements of witchcraft are incorporated into Wicca, but one shouldn't be equated with the other. (That Wicca shouldn't be equated with Satanism should go without saying.) Wicca itself isn't dangerous -- it's all what the practitioner makes of it. =P
Not Wiccan BTW, but I have looked into it extensively -- was seriously considering it for a while -- but remain a content deist instead. You can email me if you like (shirty@gmail.com), and good luck with it all. =) [ viviena's advice column | Ask viviena A Question ]
Nadia answered Wednesday August 9 2006, 2:14 am: I've tried it and it's not pretty. I started to get into it when my grandma died when I was in year 8. It stuffed with my head so bad and I would do anything to take back those 2 years that i got involved in it. I won't say what happened but I blame that religion on my attempt to kill myself.
so please think VERY seriously about it and check out other religions first. and please, be REALLY careful. [ Nadia's advice column | Ask Nadia A Question ]
