talking to professors I'm a professional student, and I've been wanting for a few weeks to talk to a professor because I share some intellectual interests, but I feel awkward starting the conversation because I'm not asking for anything specific. I like the person, and the person has been very good to me, but I feel like I'd be taking up the person's time and bothering the person if I go talk to the person without a specific need. I also really could use someone off of which I could bounce some career thoughts in the field, although there's no need for me to decide anything specific now. I feel somewhat intimidated by the person, although the person has a reputation for being a good advisor. How can I get a conversation started?
