I miss my best friend

Question Posted Friday July 21 2006, 4:30 pm

15/f

since I was born, I have been friends with my best friend Ty. But when I was 13, he moved to another state, and it was heart breaking for me and my family because my family and his are best friends! Well, we still keep in touch now in present day, but he hasn't called in a while, so I called him today. For some reason he sounded like he didn't want to talk. I mean I know he is busy because he has a lot of friends, but he could have called me once in a while.

Well I told him about twice that I missed him, and all he said was "Oh, I know!" and it made me really upset. Usually he'll say I miss you too, but he didn't. So I thought that was just his way of saying "I know I miss you too", but I'm not sure. I did say he was my best friend, and he said I was his best friend too. I was really worried that our friendship would end, but I felt happy that he said that, but he still seems different. He use to be so hyper, now he is all calm, and it make me sad because together we were insanly hyper, and it was so much fun! But he's changed, and its really hard for me to accept it. I know that the move changed him, but did his feelings toward me change? I do have to say, I think I really like him more than a friend. But he said he had a girl friend, which makes me upset because we use to go out. I just want to know if he misses me, and is our friendship going to last forever? Thanks!

Your friendship my last but it is going to be different. You don't see each other everyday and will both have new friends both male and female.

It makes no sense to expect to be boyfriend/ girlfriend at your age with so much distance between you. You can't go out on dates or to school dances etc. together. Neither one of you can just sit by and do nothing until you are old enough to make a move.

So, you stay friends. Email and message each other when you can. Someday maybe when you are older things will change to something else. For now though you need to accept that you will be distant friends. :)
