Nothing is wrong with that. You just want to get to know him. You probally are trying to see if he's right for her or something. Maybe trying to see if he likes her too. I do the same thing for my friends =)

Flirting is perfectly okay, because since you're not doing it just to get your friend jealous (well I hope you're not) there's nothing wrong with it. If her crush is not her boyfriend then it's not like she owns him and she can't tell you what to do. If you're friend doesn't like that you flirt with him and tells you to stop, kindly tell her that if she can flirt with him, so can you.

I used to do the same thing. It is not bad as long as it is not getting out of hand like you touching him on the shoulder while you talk to him and stuff like that. Also it is not bad as long as your friend doesn't mind because you wouldn't want to hurt your friends feelings.
