I wonder how the school connects to the internet without a service provider. because there people could just click internet explorer and the would be on the internet? is it free ?

They have a T1 connection. Unlike Dial-up which uses a telephone line they are always connected to the internet. For a home, you wont need a T1 line, contact your local cable company, but it's usually 50$ a month or less. It's more then worth the price, dialup is 'teh suck'.

I think your school might have wireless internet. It's something you have to purchase. And a signal would be sent to all the computers in your school. It's on all the time, unless you turn the "box" or the signal off. I have it at home, it works for my entire house. Sometimes town's have wireless, and you can pay a monthly fee. It's on all the time. I hope I helped at all. Any questions please ask. I love feedback good and bad!
