How does birth control work? Also what makes it not be 100% accurate to not cause pregnancy? Finally how does birth control prevent somebody getting pregnant?
Vikki27 answered Saturday July 8 2006, 12:00 pm: Basically, it works by controlling the way your reproductive system works. It prevents your ovaries from releasing eggs. Although you will still have 'periods' in between Pill packets, you won't be releasing any eggs and therefore won't get pregnant.
However, it is worth noting that there is no such thing as a 100% effective method of birth control. The Pill is considered the most effective, as it works at between 95-99.9% but if you miss one or take it at the incorrect times, the level of contraception is significantly decreased.
If you want to be extra-careful, use a condom at the same time. It is what the Dutch call going 'Double Dutch' and is basically the safest you can get when it comes to birth control. [ Vikki27's advice column | Ask Vikki27 A Question ]
