arthritis

Question Posted Saturday July 1 2006, 12:49 pm

I have been recieving remicade infusions for rheumatoid arthritis for the last 4 years and
as of the last 6 months. The relieve level that i experienced at first seems to have diminished considerably. Is it possible that my body has become imuned to it?

Be sure and tell your doctor about it. He/she may need to change your dosage. You don't get immune to the medicine but your body does build up a certain tolerance for it. For any medicine not just that one in particular. :)

Just let the doc know so he can up the dosage if he feels it is safe to do so.

I'm no doctor, so I'm not going to guess when I could be totally off. Just go to a doctor, they will know what to do because it's there job. Just so you know, you're not going to get a really good answer by asking on advicenators because I can say most of us ARN'T doctors.

Hope I helped.

I doubt it's an immunity issue. There is such a thing as tolerance level for pain medication, but I don't know if that exsists for remicade because it's entirely different. I would say you need to review your treatment regimin with your Dr. Any medication questions could be directed toward your pharmacist.

Have you asked your doctor? Because I think that should be the first step.

But I don't think you can get immune to the medicine. Maybe the arthritis is getting a little worse and if thats the case your doctor is just going to have to give you stronger medicine.

Hoping you feel better,
