Dial up AOL, and AIM

Question Posted Tuesday June 27 2006, 8:09 pm

I use dial up aol, but I was just wondering if I could use AIM also. Like I downloaded AIM on my computer, and my brother tells me I can use AIM as long as I'm signed in on AOL also. I tried using it, and everytime a pop-up said "The AIM service can't be reached" I don't use broadband, so I'm not sure what to do. Thanks so much♥

Using Dial-up can't stop you from using AIM, and you can use AIM without being a member to AOL. For dial-up connections, AIM's connection can be some wait (a few minutes) just to successfully connect. The problem probably is AIM is not capable of the dial-up connection you have (like 35k or lower), or it may be the server. Contact AIM for information on what the problem could be, or contact your ISP (internet service provider) for what the problem could be.
