Question Posted Tuesday June 20 2006, 12:26 am

If a person truly believes in Jesus and knows him as Savior, that person understands that it is not possible to be a true Christian and embrace false religions too. Therefore a person can not be a Christian and a Buddist or Hindu or any of the other false religions for that matter. To believe one can is just another false religion conjoured up in yet another mind of a human being to suit that persons self indulgence. It's weak way of thinking because there is no bases for truth.

Yes that is true. But at the same time if you have respect for all of different religions as well. Because a lot of religions' beliefs overlap eachother. I wouldn't say that any religion is a false religion. People believe what they believe. It's personal. I don't think it's right to say that whatever people believe in is "false" or wrong. Everyone is entitled to there opinions and views, however open they are. Everyone needs some respect in my eyes. Different religions are mostly just different forms of the same God. The one thing is that everyone has something bigger than them to believe in. Is that so wrong as to believe in a higher power? Christians believe that Jesus and God is the higher power while Buddhists believe Siddhartha Guatama, Jews believe Abraham and God etc. This reasoning does not make a person self indulgent - it makes the person aware of all worldly aspects. You live in this world - you can't deny it. I respect in you that you have a strong relationship with Jesus but at the same time don't you think he would want you to have a sense of well roundedness and understanding of all different types of religion? Because Jesus was a Jew right? But he is the basis of Christianity instead. I don't think that I will be able to completely level with you on this subject and I am not trying to corner you or say that you are wrong, because you aren't. It's understandable what you are saying. Just try and think of it in this way and maybe you can come to a sense of a deeper understanding of this. It doesn't really matter hugely either way because all that matters is that you believe in someone higher than you. In the end, if you have that, no one is wrong. All the fine details don't matter as much. For example, in the Da Vinci Code, how Mary Magdalene is the assumed wife of Jesus, that's a religion, a belief is somethihng that could have happened but does that change how you think about your Ultimate reality? You still believe in a higher power right? If it does, your faith probably isn't as strong as it should be. When I was writing about the Buddhists and the Christians a few questions back, I was just trying to show that it's not what my religion is, it's just the fact that I understand either way, because a lot of religions are insanely similar. I'm sorry if it offended anyone, confused anyone or anything. There was no means by that at all. So my deepest apoligies if so. No accusations or judgements at all, just a thought. =-) I hope I helped in the sense of maybe showing you another side of something. -GC07
