how long can you safley wear a tampon?

Keeping it in overnight is okay. So probably 8 hrs or so. They might cause an odor if left in much longer than that...you don't want that.

If you're concerned about toxic shock syndrome don't. It is a concern basically for those who put one in...say around the end of their period, and then just completely forget to remove it. I have worked in emergency medicine and those are the ones who get toxic shock. Leave it in a week or more and you are in trouble. It does happen.
Just remember you have it in and you aren't going to have a problem. :)
