Salam. i am a newer convert to Islam. my problem is i don't have any good influences near me. i go to Masjid when i can but it's in another city. i am trying to teach myself. but it's not going as well as i would have wished. Inshallah, i will find my way. but i live in a small town that's very racist. im not afraid to wear the hijab, but i don't want anyone i know to get hurt because of it. well i want to know of any sites that can help me in my learning. and maybe some people to contact. thank you very much. allah hafiz

alaykom el salam.congratulations on converting.well ya it is hard to wear the hijab in your case because of your surroundings and influences that are....not so good.but think of it like this these ppl are doing the wrong thing does it mean that you should be like them?you can wear the hijab if you want to no one can tell you not to.....when you see all these girls dressed in exposed clothes noone can DARE say anything to them!they yell back and say its a free country i can wear whatever i want to wear!and so can you!well hijab was kinda hard for me too!i was surrounded by my friends and most of them dont wear it and i was obssessed with myself and how i looked like.but then i was like is what they say or think really that important?when God sends me to hell what they say isnt really gonna matter.....and if you need my help ask me

Dont worry you dont need people to be muslims so you could feel like a true muslim. You chose your way and if you truly believe in the teachings of islam and the teachings of the holy book of islam thats enough.Every one has their own way some believe in Jesus some in Muhammed some in something else and i think you only need faith in things you do and no one can convince you otherwise.And as for racism take care of your family and remember faith is inside you not around you.People can be very cruel but as long as you mind your own buissnes i dont think they will hurt you or your family.
